The David Oistrakh String Quartet features four of today’s most outstanding Russian musicians, all soloists in their own right, united in their artistry and their passion for the art of quartet playing. In 2012 the family of the legendary 20th century violinist honoured the quartet with his name.
The David Oistrakh Quartet frequently performs across Europe, Asia, South America and at many of the most recognised Russian venues, including all of the country’s famous philharmonics halls. They have had the honour to play at various renowned festivals where they have collaborated with such celebrated artists as Eliso Virsaladze, Eduard Brunner, Liana Isakadze, Irina Kandinskaya, Alexander Bonduryansky, Boris Andrianov, Inga Dzekzer, Kirill Gerstein, Alexander Buzlov and Daniel Austrich.
After their impressive debuts in Japan, Hong Kong, at the Prague Spring Festival, the Quartet Festival at the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon and at the Philharmonie de Paris, which immediately resulted in two re-invitations, one for the “Ivry Gitlis & friends” 2019 which will see the quartet perform alongside Martha Agerich & Renaud Capucon and the other one for the next Bienale Quartet Festival in 2020 future engagements will bring the quartet to the Wigmore Hall in London, the Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Enescu Festival in Bucharest, the Liszt Academy in Budapest, the Bratislava Festival, the Konzerthaus in Dortmund, the Stiftskonzerte in Austria by invitation of Rico Gulda, the Palau de la Musica in Valencia and the Auditorio de Barcelona.
